About the Company

LA COMPAGNIE GEORGES MOMBOYE was founded in 1992 and is celebrating multiple international successes in collaboration with about fifty artists. For the choreographer Georges Momboye, dance is above all the still-developing forms of movement. Furthermore, Georges Momboye is a figurehead of contemporary, African dance.

The repertoire of the company consists of 15 price-winning pieces and projects. Furthermore, LA COMPAGNIE GEORGES MOMBOYE was part of several eminent international festivals.

At the Maison de la Danse in Lyon, Georges Momboye created a new dance piece together with eight dancers and two musicians in 2011 – Empreintes Massai was inspired by the culture and tradition of the Massai tribes of Kenia and Tanzania. The piece is oriented on the sweeping, sky-directed movements of the Massai. In his creation Georges Momboye wants to connect tradition and modernity.
